Susan Nigro received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from Northwestern University, and a Master’s degree in education at Roosevelt University.  She acquired orchestral training at Tanglewood and in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, and studied with Burl Lane, Willard Elliot, Wilbur Simpson, Leonard Sharrow, Sherman Walt, and Ferdinand Del Negro.  Ms. Nigro specializes on contrabassoon, has 8 CDs available on the commercial market, and does solo appearances-solo recitals- solo recordings on this exotic instrument.  Sue is contrabassoonist with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, and the New Philharmonic of DuPage.  She is an active freelance bassoonist, and a long-time regular substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
